SAIA: Self Awareness In Action

I have always been deeply reflective and expressive, but the loss of my older brother in August of 2022 marked the beginning of a profound period of introspection. I felt an extreme disconnect from myself and God, like my whole inner world had collapsed. Everything I thought I understood about myself and my place in the world was completely uprooted. I consciously decided to let go of my religion and all the other social conditioning I had internalized up to that point in order to get to know the most authentic version of myself and God.

Eager to dive deeper into myself, I went on google and looked up the meaning of my middle name. I got many different results, but the acronym “Self Awareness In Action” truly resonated. In my project titled “SAIA”, I aim to portray the feelings associated with my own self awareness journey, showing how individuals lose themselves, search for truth, and reflect on what it means to know themselves in relation to the world around them.
